SPRING INTO GOLF
Ah the vagaries of Mother Nature – she giveth and she taketh
away!
Spring into Golf is an initiative of the National Golf
Course Owners Association Canada. Almost 50 of our golf course members in South Central
Ontario have banded together each spring for the last 9 years to offer a day of
free golf that creates excitement to start a new season.
One of the conditions that encourages golf courses to offer
up to 5,000 free rounds is that the day carries on regardless of spring
conditions that could range from a bright, sunny warm day to cold, wet
conditions.
Knowing that Canadians are a hardy bunch and that golfers in
particular are eager to get out and enjoy knocking that little white ball
around, as long as the superintendent deems that the conditions are playable
(course is open) pro shop staff will enthusiastically welcome you for play.
Rain cheques are not a part of this promotion as per our
terms and conditions (#9).
With this parameter established, courses are able to block
off tee times months in advance while continuing to book events for all days
following this kick-start to the season. For this reason, it is not possible
for most facilities to set aside another day to accommodate up to 5,000 free
rounds since play is now booked through the season.
Golf course operators are just as disappointed as you are
when conditions are less than ideal. For Spring into Golf, the “free” day is a
chance to meet and greet new faces to showcase all that comes together for an
enjoyable playing experience at their course.
We sincerely hope that you are able to make the best of
whatever conditions are encountered and appreciate that each course is only able to
do the same under their own circumstances.
Here’s to a great golf season that gives us all the
enjoyment that this great game offers.
