Kendra EvansRecognizing a well-deserving member Any of you who spend much time around the golf course will have come across Bob Smillie. He always seems to be there with his big smile, helping out in countless ways behind the scenes. Did you know he took down all the trophies you see around the clubhouse and polished them? Well, on September 15th he achieved the seemingly impossible. He had five sand saves during his game. (This golfer needed to be told that a sand save refers to a player hitting out of a greenside bunker and then one-putting into the hole.) It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Congratulations, Bob! Bring home the pizza Beginning in early October, the Thalassa Restaurant is adding pizza to their menu. They’re also offering a take-out and delivery service. They hired a new staff person to look after the pizza operation and even added a different phone line for ordering pizzas. So, give them a call at 594-1151 to place your order, sit back and wait for your delivery. Please note that when functions are taking place in the restaurant, they will restrict pizza service to delivery only. The restaurant will continue to remain open until 9 pm or later. A definition of interest Do you know the definition of dormie? It’s a golf term given to describe the situation when a team cannot lose a match against the competition as the number of holes remaining is the same as the current lead. None of us relish being in that situation! The Dormie publication will become semi-dormant during the winter months. You’ll hear from us again in late November, late February and then we’ll begin monthly postings again as the golf groups start up their regular season. |
